The Big Meeting: A Political P*ss up
Sincerely, I do not believe there is a better day of the year to be a North-Easterner than the annual Durham Miners’ Gala. On the second Saturday of July, the streets of County Durham are flooded with over 200,000 people. I have never in all of my years documenting and travelling seen such unity as what I see every year in my little neck of the woods. There is a northern spirit that cannot be denied and there is a northern history and heritage that should not be forgotten. Beyond the jagged edges of the North East, we have managed to master the art of politics and Piss up.
