1000 TERRORISTS: DEFYING PROSCRIPTION

Palestine Action, a direct action group that targets Israeli weapons factories and arms donors, was proscribed under the Terrorism act in 2025. This in turn means that showing support for the group, being a member of or working alongside them carries a risky 14 years imprisonment. In definace of the proscription, thousands of people took to the streets of the UK holding placards that said “I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action.” or a similar variation of the phrase. Thousands were arrested and charged over a number of months, many acting under the banner of ‘Defend Our Juries’, an organisation seeking the over-turning of proscription on the grounds it is a state overreach and an infringement on the right to protest. On September 6th, the largest mass arrest in British history took place with 826 arrests, many of those arrestees subject to excessive force and brutality.
