SUMMER OF ‘25: MIGRANT JUSTICE, WOMEN’S RIGHTS.
Footage from Unite the Kingdom, March for Life, Epping & Crawley.
The summer of ‘25 became all about the far-rights championing of Women and Children’s rights. Despite the revelations that many in their ranks are convicted pedophiles, domestic abusers and rapists, they have maintained their claims. Yet, those present at anti-abortion demonstrations are the same people present at anti-immigration marches. Those chanting “you’re going home” at random black and brown people are the same people shouting “shame” and vulgar terms at those advocating for bodily autonomy. In fact, at a far-right demonstration this summer, a lone white woman took the mic to talk of the sexual abuse she had endured and when she spoke of her abusers whiteness and how they were not migrants, she had the mic seized from her and was heckled off stage. At the Unite the Kingdom rally, a journalist was sexually harassed by large crowds who chanted “get your tits out love” and other obscenities at her. I myself was called a “slag”, “whore” and “slut” just as many times as I was called a “paki” while documenting this summer.
UKIP, alongside the disciples of christ and Tommy Robinson adjacent groups took to the streets of Newcastle in a bid to oppose migration in a strange show of Solidarity for the re-launching of Advance UK, previously called the Integrity Party. Though, they ended up being heavily outnumbered by counter demonstrators and therefore did not succeed in reaching their intended locations. I witnessed a counter-protesting woman being assaulted by a man who smashed her glasses off of her face for no apparent reason. The Nazi saluting individual is Alan Raine, a notorious and long standing member of Northern based far-right organisations.
